Slough, mostly known for its dreary portrayal in the smash sitcom The Office, has been named the best place to work in the UK.

A survey by jobsite Glassdoor, has found that Slough came first for work, the cost of living and employee satisfaction. Its proximity to major transport hubs, including the Elizabeth line, also helped with its high ranking.

Although a surprise to some, Slough has been a popular destination for businesses for years. Most recently, Area have been working with major clients including: global leader in mission-critical communications products, services and solutions Motorola Solutions; internet security solutions provider McAfee; and financial services technology provider Fiserv to relocate their offices to various buildings within Slough.

One of these buildings is the soon-to-be-completed 120,000 sq ft The Porter Building. Developed by real estate investors Brockton Capital and Landid, The Porter Building is set to be one of the first buildings in the UK to achieve WELL Building Standard certification, and has already secured its first pre-let tenant, Fiserv. Area’s client Fiserv will occupy the entire 28,000 sq ft first floor of the building.
