An inspiring team from Area’s Landlord and Traditional division has taken part in the 2018 Great River Race in London, raising over £1,700 for children’s charity, Shooting Star Chase.
Known as London’s River Marathon, this spectacular boat race up the River Thames attracts over 330 crews from all over the globe. The team of seven endured blisters and sore bums to complete the 21.6 mile course from London Docklands to Ham in Surrey.
Chris Cauchi, 3D Visualiser for Area, said: “For us it started as a team building challenge, but once we hit the start line we all wanted to win our category! Rowing for over three hours was not easy; it’s a sport that requires a great deal of concentration and repetitive effort, but everyone gave it their best shot and we were massively spurred on by the support and donations we received. The atmosphere on the day gave us all a huge buzz and we cannot wait to take part again next year!”
Steve Baldock, Divisional Director for Area, added: “I’m really proud of the team for giving it their all on the day. It was a fantastic event to be involved with and was made even better having raised vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
Area and the wider Fourfront Group has been supporting Shooting Star Chase since 2008 and through various fundraising events, has raised nearly £400,000 for this fantastic cause.
Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Visit www.shootingstarchase.org.uk to find out more.
