The brief

When South African-based integrated energy and chemical company Sasol had outgrown their existing premises in London, Area were appointed with the design and delivery of their new workplace in Paddington Basin. We were tasked with aligning their London base with Sasol Corporate Head Office in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Our solution

To truly understand the Sasol brand and their unique working practices, the project team flew out to their HQ in South Africa. As a result, the workplace standards set at Sasol’s HQ in Johannesburg was integrated with European features to create a stunning, yet corporate, look and feel for their London office. Sasol’s new workplace offers a combination of open-plan space for their workforce, whilst also providing closed offices for Management. In addition, a telepresence room, meeting suite and breakout area have also been installed.

Project insight

“What was most interesting about this project was having to translate the brief from Sasol Place in South Africa to what is a traditional corporate building in Paddington. In order to have a consistent look and feel, Sasol had specific requirements when it came to the finishes specification. Luxurious finishes such as veneer and marble have been used extensively throughout."- Darren Sansom, Project Director, Area
