When global security software company McAfee were relocating to a new address in Slough, Area were instructed to design and build a new agile workplace for them. Having worked with McAfee on three projects previously, Area worked with acquiring agent, Cushman & Wakefield, and McAfee’s in-house project manager to develop a modern workplace design which embraces a change in working culture and offers a flexible and central hub for their employees to work within.
Initially, due diligence of two buildings was carried out before a series of workshops took place with the local stakeholders to refine the brief. This was developed in detail to the final solution, culminating in a design presentation to McAfee’s project team.
Situated across two floors, a central staircase has been installed to enhance connectivity between teams. The 6th floor is the main entrance to the McAfee brand, housing a meeting room suite and a generous breakout area adjacent to the terrace. Embracing agility within the main working area on the 7th floor, the open-plan environment provides 11 individual offices, a boardroom, pockets of breakout space, as well as a central transient hub for the sales team.
"We were very pleased to work with Area again after numerous projects working together with exceptional results. Area came up with some great ideas on how to utilise the space on both floors. The team were a pleasure to work with, extremely professional and always on hand to answer any question we had. They completed work on time and within budget. The design, construction and after care service is 2nd to none. "

“McAfee are a dynamic business, and they were looking to really embrace a big cultural change when moving from their existing office to their new agile workplace. The result is a workplace that has transformed the way they work, created a space McAfee are proud to bring clients to, and has improved staff productivity." - Spencer Meredith, Project Director, Area
