One of the world’s largest human resources and employee benefit consultancies was consolidating two of its offices into a new building over three floors in Woking. Workspace needed to include an area with privacy for confidential meetings, informal meeting space.
The main focus of the design was to support collaborative working as multiple specialist teams often needed to work together on client projects. Future proofing the office was also important, as the space, which currently accommodates 148 people, needs to support 200 as the business grows.
From a design perspective, strong brand identity was achieved through ongoing communication and collaboration with the client’s team. A different vibe in certain areas was created with a Paul Weller room in homage to Woking’s famous son, incorporating mod themes. Other rooms were influenced by Woking’s history.
The colour scheme included pale grey, dark blue and aqua with a hexagonal diamond logo in the finishes and diamond shape floor tiles in the café. Bold colours were coordinated and a friendly feel introduced to the meeting suite to make it stand out from the rest of the office.
Area set up a design steering group, which included employees from different areas of the business, to provide insight on what was required from the new environment. As a result of this consultative process, people felt extremely engaged with the relocation programme and were able to contribute to ensure a successful outcome.
