The Brief

This project required the fit-out and refurbishment of two adjacent buildings totaling 8,000ft2 of office space and 100,000ft2 of industrial and logistics space and the provision of full design and build contractor responsibility to ensure a fxed price and programme. Detailed planning of the construction process was utilised to minimise manufacturing production.

The Solution

Area were employed to undertake the creation of office and meeting room space, designed to represent a modern and open environment. Manufacturing plant from previous facility was relocated to suit the company’s current requirements whilst the installation of a new heavy duty gantry crane system was introduced to enable the movement of turbine units.

Key Challenges

Key to the success of this project was the detailed coordination and programme of the gantry crane installation. Significant structural and builders works was undertaken to the existing slab to create service pits for machinery and turbine placement.

Technical Aspects

The complete mechanical and electrical service infrastructure, suitable for heavy engineering activities was undertaken to ensure the project was delivered exactly as envisioned. Dock levellers were utilised to enable heavy machinery to access the building. A guide rail system was introduced to create safe way way routes throughout the warehouse.
