The brief

Our client, and UK’s largest airline, required a modern facility from which they can train their pilots, cabin crew and staff, and also host meetings and conferences. Minutes from their main Luton base, Area was asked to design and upgrade their existing facility in line with their new brand matching some key facilities from Hangar 89.

Our solution

Staff are welcomed at their European ‘Academy’ training centre with a bright reception area which includes airline seating as a ’quirk’ alongside traditional soft seating. Whilst on site, trainees enjoy refreshments provided from the fully serviced coffee shop which houses a mixture of soft and cafe style seating for up to 100 staff. In addition to flexible meeting spaces, the training facilities include an aircraft simulator and an escape chute for staff to practice emergency evacuation procedures.

Because of the wide range of meetings, conferences and courses run by easyJet, we created a wide range of multifunctional rooms with folding walls to allow the space to be quickly and easily reconfigured for a multitude of purposes. We also created additional workspace in to which easyJet are able to expand.
