Citrix Systems is a US-based software company whose products enable customers to work and access their data from any device or digital platform. The company has been steadily expanding, and in 2012 it acquired Podio – a Danish cloud-based collaboration service. The new-look company needed a Copenhagen office that reflected the merging of the established American company with its young, funky acquisition, blending their styles and providing an impressive base for continued growth in Denmark.
Area was a natural ft for the detail and build, having worked with Citrix on several UK projects. The task was to combine the required design elements into a cohesive solution that was recognisably Citrix, while incorporating Podio’s dynamism and a strong Scandinavian aesthetic.
We worked with the landlord, base build contractor and architect to ensure the space was properly prepared – particularly in terms of M&E functionality. It was important that the base build specification complemented our planned design.
The offices are a harmonious blend of the Citrix brand with a Scandinavian flavour – clean lines, uncluttered spaces, light reflective surfaces, and plenty of warm wood. Working areas are open, reflecting a move away from cellular offices, while kitchen/lounge areas are homely and welcoming. Colours are natural and soothing with occasional bolder hues (such as lime green) to provide a contrast. The stylish contemporary furniture was selected for visual interest and impact as well as functionality.
Key stakeholders from Podio and Citrix were consulted on the development of the brief to ensure the finished result was exactly what they wanted. The feedback has been fantastic. For them it’s a space to be proud of - a real home.’
