This boutique law firm was keen to use its office relocation as an opportunity to change the culture of the practice, moving away from dark cellular offices to a lighter, more open-plan working environment. However, it also needed an archive space able to store thousands of documents plus a large reception area suitable for hosting client entertainment functions.
The challenge was to maximise natural light while providing a substantial yet flexible amount of storage. The answer proved to be roller racking, pushed to the perimeter walls, to allow natural light to flow through the space. In conjunction with a new library, this more than satisfied the archiving requirements. Our sister company, Sketch Studios, selected furniture to the precise specifications.
"The Area team interpreted the brief perfectly. I was highly impressed with the level of detail their designers went into. We now have an office space which reinvents our company culture, is both practical, functional and a pleasure to work in."
To exploit natural light, a new reception area was given a glossy ceramic floor and all meeting rooms were glass fronted. A curved front of house was created to give the client the extra office space needed to host special events.
