The brief

Provide a cost-effective solution for Asthma UK to reduce office space from 12,000 sq ft to 7,800 sq ft, while effectively celebrating the incredible work the charity does.

Our solution

Reducing office space meant that the new workspace had to work very effectively and so first off the Area team carefully assessed how Asthma UK used space to inform the design solution. One initiative in the success of the office fit-out was the adoption of a flexible boardroom, where the boardroom had moveable partition walls to divide in to two meeting rooms when it was not being utilised for larger board meetings. The vibrant colours of the charity’s branding and identity were celebrated with strong accent colours on vinyl graphics, furniture pieces and fittings, and we dressed the workspace walls to help build a level of awareness around the work Asthma UK carries out. The office relocation was carried out by our sister company Sketch Studios who managed the move over one weekend.

Project insight

With sustainability always front of mind, Area managed to minimise the expense and timescale of the project by cleverly designing a workspace within the inherited structure and layout of the existing building that was previously let. This minimised the need for major HVAC or structural modifications.
