The brief

Arcapita’s investment team acts as a principal arranger and manager of alternative investments. The main objective was to create a space that portrayed a professional and high end image for their visitors, mostly potential investors and portfolio companies. It was critical to create a space on-brand with Arcapita’s iconic Bahrain HQ and for the space to have obvious Islamic influences such as the artwork and feature glass.

Another requirement was installing additional washroom facilities so overseas visitors could freshen up after long journeys. In addition to this, luxurious feature glass panels needed to be relocated from their existing office and incorporated into the design scheme.

Our solution

Careful selection of quality finishes was used to reflect the global HQ while taking care not to appear too opulent and working within a realistic budget.

Natural daylight was maximised and views enhanced by placing support areas near the core of the floor and positioning meeting rooms in addition to private offices on the perimeter. Day two expansion was planned into the layout to accommodate future growth over the lease duration.

Project insight

By working with the manufactures, relocation and installation of the feature glass panels in the new reception area was straightforward. A feature Walnut ‘artifacts wall’ was created to display ancient artwork and pottery. Area worked closely with the Shard’s building management team, as this was the first time a floor had been subleased and so new territory for everyone. The team has scrupulous guidelines and all teams worked in collaboration with the head leaseholder to ensure the scheme, systems and processes were compliant.
